What is the best place in Jersey City to put your thoughts on the PS and ERAS CV?
1) Exchange place:
It is my go-to place to finish my application and work on my PS and program searching.
Exchange Place is a beautiful spot on the Hudson River waterfront; it’s just the best place for a view of the World Trade Center across the water.
There are multiple places to sit here with benches and a table desk for working with a laptop. And the place itself is not chaotic at all unless it is a weekend. Even on weekends, people are usually roaming around or jogging, which is not disturbing at all if you like people while working.
I have written my first draft of the ERAS CV and probably the 20th draft of the personal statement here! 😅 Believe me, it’s a lovely place to reflect on yourself for a personal statement. And I almost searched and made a Google Sheet of the remaining programs of internal medicine.
Places to sit and my schedule?
I usually left my house at 8:30 (I was living near Journal Square), and I used to take a bus to reach Exchange Place (Bus no. 80—25 minutes). I go to eat something and then find a place to sit. I used to sit for the whole day until 8 or 9 PM, with a lunch break and some coffee.
There is a nice place outside of the 70 Hudson St. building facing the river. You can find tables, chairs, and a slow breeze to work here.

Nearby pizza and eating places
Chipotle—As an Indian vegetarian, this is one of my favorite places to eat if I plan to eat outside. My goal was to eat one big meal (burrito bowl) around 10-11 AM so I can work with full energy until the end of the day.
Also, there is no free restroom at Exchange Place, so it is better to eat there and use the restroom, as I was staying there for the whole day.
You can also fill up your water bottles at Chipotle free of cost.
So there are many advantages to eating at Chipotle if you are short on a budget, as ERAS will ask you for ton and tons of money! 🥹😂
Pizza places
Krispy Pizza—30 Hudson St—This is a wonderful place to enjoy a slice of authentic-style NY pizza. There were multiple options, from lasagna to garlic knots. The price starts at $4 per slice.
&Pizza - 30 Montgomery St—It wasn’t that worth it for the price—$8 for half a pie and a cold drink and $12 for a pie. The size was small, the taste of tomato sauce wasn’t that authentic, and the topping was also just 4-5 pieces of mushroom in the whole pie.
Other places:
Taco bell
Subway
Starbucks
2) Newport—It is the same as Exchange Place on the Hudson River waterfront.
I am writing this while sitting in the same place with my coffee and listening to pink noise.
Happy learning!
Thank you!
