Domestic vs International Terminal:

Why is it important to get to know about this?

If you are doing your observership near Atlanta Airport, you will probably use this airport for your flights to and from India, as well as for domestic travel.

Domestic terminal

  • Here, the domestic terminal is much better than the international. All of the dine-in places and shops are located in this terminal. So, if you have a long layover for your international travel or you came too early for it from the airport, just go to the domestic terminal and chill out there.

  • I think it took 20–30 minutes to reach the international terminal from the domestic terminal using the shuttle provided by the airport, so plan accordingly.

  • Options for dining are Taco Bell, Starbucks, IHope Express, and Burger King, etc., with reasonable prices.

International terminal

  • Very small terminal as compared to the domestic terminal. It took me almost 20 mins to reach here from domestic terminal, including waiting time for shuttel.

  • No dine-in option before pre-security, as far as I know.

  • There is very limited space to sit, and each airline doesn’t have its own dedicated check-in counter. They used to change countries according to the timing of the flight.

How to save money while booking Uber or Lyft to reach the airport?

  • Let's say you are booking an Uber or Lyft to Atlanta Airport.

If you set the destination as Atlanta Airport, it will usually show higher prices.

I I would suggest using the GICC sky train as your destination; it will be cheaper, with a difference of around $15 to $20. There is a skytrain running from the GICC center that drops you off directly at the domestic terminal free of charge (it takes 5 minutes max).

  • For the international terminal, there is a free shuttle from the domestic terminal, and you can get there in 20–30 minutes.

  • You can do the same thing while returning from the airport: you can take a train from the domestic terminal to the GICC center, and from there, you can usually book cheaper cabs to reach your destination.

How to get from the Greyhound bus station to Atlanta Airport?

  • TThere is a direct MARTA train that travels from Garnett station to Atlanta Airport station.

  • I think a one-way charge is $2.50; you can buy tickets from both stations.

  • GGarnett station is just a 2-minute walk from the Greyhound bus station.

  • You can always use Google Maps for suggestions of public transport.
